About us
Our pastors, executive committee, mission, vision and values.
Pastors Celestino and Linda Guzmán have served this church since its inception in Waukegan, IL, in 1985. The church began with a home Bible study at the Perez family’s house. Due to growth, it was decided to rent a building at 800 Chesnut Ave. in Waukegan. At that point, Pastor Celestino Guzmán moved with his family from Racine, Wisconsin to Waukegan, Illinois, to directly minister and oversee the new installed church. God’s movement continued, and the growth persisted. This led the congregation to acquire a place of their own at 920-922 Washington St. in Waukegan, IL. God placed a dream and vision in Pastor Guzmán, who tirelessly sought to open doors where it seemed impossible, and thus, God allowed the church to acquire the land property at 2001 Frolic Ave. in Waukegan, IL, where a new temple was built and inaugurated on September 16, 1995. The vision and dream did not end there. Due to the need for a bigger space to meet the growing congregation’s needs, the church moved to 5501 Stearns School Rd. in Gurnee, IL, in October 2017, where New Hope Church is located today. The dream continues, and we trust in the Lord Jesus Christ that the church will continue to grow and serve the community in Waukegan, Gurnee, and neighboring cities for the honor and glory of God.
